NBCP Attends the Expert Group Meeting of Corruption Prevention under the UN Convention against Corruption
The Expert Group Meeting of Corruption Prevention under the United Nations Convention against Corruption was jointly held by the Secretariat of the Convention and Qatar public procuratorate authority on February 9-11, 2009 in Doha, capital of Qatar. More than 30 representatives from 12 member states such as China, the United States and Brazil, related international organizations and academic institutes attended the meeting. Related officials from the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention (NBCP) Office participated in the meeting.
Aiming at finding out the effective measures of preventing corruption and fostering honest culture, the participating representatives delivered speeches on how to effectively prevent corruption based on their respective experience. On the basis of summarizing these speeches, the meeting resulted in a fruitful document ---- Preventive Measures of UN Convention against Corruption: Outline of Action Suggestions. Based on the document, the secretariat will conduct further discussions and researches and formulate drafts related to resolutions of corruption prevention for the third conference of states parties of the Convention.
At the meeting, Chinese delegation actively participated in discussion and introduced NBCP’s experience and practices of corruption prevention after establishment with focuses on the information related to the Joint Conference of Corruption Prevention and the Seminar of Corruption Prevention for Asian and African Countries, attracting wide attentions and winning appreciations from the Secretariat and representatives from various parties. During the meeting, Chinese delegation also communicated with the Secretariat on launching bilateral cooperation, and exchanged views with representatives from countries such as Finland, Cuba and Qatar. |
