Tianjin Takes the Lead in Launching the New Database for Bribery Criminal Records Nationwide
Tianjin Municipality has led the country in officially launching a new version of bribery criminal records database. Compared with the old version, the new database is no longer a regional one, but a national one with all bribery criminal records in all sectors. Thus this new program enables the search of bribery records in all sectors. Companies, organizations and individuals can apply to procuratorates to search the database for criminal records for free so that they can avoid using former bribers in economic activities, such as public biddings. Meanwhile, procuratorates in Tianjin also led the country in providing hotline services to search bribery criminal records.
The country’s procuratorate system started to launch databases of bribery criminal records in 2006 and originally applied them to five areas of construction, finance, health care, education and government procurement. The upgraded databases will enlarge the areas to cover all fields and add three new functions of searching non-criminal briberies, the records of bribe-takers and conducting comprehensive analysis. |
