  On October 31, 2003, the United Nations Convention against Corruption was adopted at the 58th United Nations Assembly and opened for signing at the high-level political conference held in Merida, Mexico on December 9 to 11, 2003. On December 9, 2005, the Convention was signed by many countries at the UN headquarters in New York.

  So far, a total of 140 countries have signed the Convention, including 104 countries being approved to join in the Convention.
