Qu Wanxiang Leads a Delegation to Qatar for the Third Conference of the States Parties of the UN Convention Against Corruption and Visits Botswana
At the invitation of UN Secretariat and Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime of Botswana, Qu Wanxiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Deputy Minister of Supervision and Deputy Director of National Bureau of Corruption Prevention (NBCP) led a delegation to Doha, Qatar for the Third Conference of the States of Parties of the UN Convention Against Corruption and visited Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime of Botswana from November 7 to 17, 2009 at the approval of the State Council, achieving a great success.
While attending the Third Conference of the States of Parties of the UN Convention Against Corruption, Qu Wanxiang delivered a speech to introduce China’s guidelines and policies, important measures and prominent achievements of the work of combating corruption and upholding integrity in an all-round way, winning appreciations from representatives from various countries. Meanwhile, Qu Wanxiang and Deputy Foreign Minister Song Tao met with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir and crown prince of Qatar, and Ibrahim, Chairman of the conference and Attorney General of Qatar. Meanwhile, Qu Wanxiang also met with related leaders of corruption prevention authorities of Mongolia and Indonesia and president of Transparency International. He also exchanged views with representatives from Thailand and Pakistan.
In Botswana, the delegation had a working conference with officials from Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime, introduced information on corruption prevention in each other’s countries and had an in-depth discussion on launching exchanges and cooperation in the area of corruption prevention between the two countries. The Chinese delegation also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Phandu Skelemani, Assistant Minister of State President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and the Executive Chairman of Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board A. Lionjanga. |
